Palms Personal

You will not see large, mature palms like these for sale.  Why?  These were grown for our enjoyment and hobby collecting, but it is past time for them to be sold.

They are mature, beautiful palms that have been grown in the ground, in full sun, for around 20 years.  Because of their size and are fully rooted in earth soil, they will require skillful digging.  This skill is easy to learn.  You are probably accustomed to buying a 5-gallon plant and taking it home.  As your garden grows, you may look for larger palms to have "instant landscape".  Who wants to wait 20 years?  This larger size is achieved only if grown in the ground (when you visit, I will show you many palms in containers, 15-20 years old and they are only knee to waist high.  The adage for palms and cycads is this:  You are buying time.  You are watching the small ones you bought grow very slowly--it is painful and exasperating!  You will "pay for" your small palms with time.

This list of in-ground palms is provided with simple terms for size, S (small-about 10-gal), M (medium-about 15 gal), L (large-about 20-30 gal) and VL (very large-root base wrapped in burlap for transport).   You can do this digging operation or you can have your (or our) professional plant mover.  This cost is reasonable.  After all, you want your new palms to go in your ground and thrive, right?  In order to avoid false starts, I ask you to line up who will dig this palm.  Ask them for an estimate of that cost and decide whether that is within your budget.  Data for the cost of in-ground palms isn't available, so we will have to come to a mutual decision for a fair cost.
